What Procore does natively for accounts payable, sourced to Procore’s own documentation, and the work a US general contractor’s AP team still does by hand.
Partly. Procore lets subcontractors enter their own invoices against commitments, lets your team approve or reject each Schedule of Values line, pays subs through Procore Pay, and has a beta that turns emailed attachments into Direct Cost records. The Procore pages we checked in October 2026 don’t describe suggesting a cost code and cost type for each line of a supplier invoice automatically, or checking a vendor’s entries against the PDF they attached.

Procore tool
What Procore documents
Invoicing: invoice contacts
A subcontractor or vendor named as an invoice contact on a commitment can create and submit invoices, update a Subcontractor Schedule of Values where the GC enables it, and revise and resubmit rejected lines. Procore Support, as of October 2026
Invite to Bill
An invoice contact does not need an Invite to Bill: they can create an invoice from the Commitments tool for any open billing period. Procore Support, as of October 2026
Subcontractor invoice review
Subcontractor invoices originate from approved commitments. An invoice administrator reviews each Schedule of Values line and approves or rejects it, and rejected lines go back to the submitter. Procore Support, as of October 2026
Direct Costs
Direct Costs cover costs not tied to a purchase order or subcontract, as Expense, Invoice or Payroll entries. Each line takes a budget code, description, quantity, unit and unit cost. Procore Support, as of October 2026
Direct Cost email forwardingBeta
Email Forwarding for Direct Costs creates a Direct Costs record from each PDF, JPG or PNG attachment emailed to a company address. Procore labels it a beta for participants in its Company Direct Costs beta program. Procore Support, as of October 2026
Procore Pay
Procore Pay handles subcontractor invoice review and payment: customizable approval chains, payment requirements, and lien waivers staged and released at the time of payment. procore.com/pay, as of October 2026
QuickBooks Online Connector
Procore’s QuickBooks Online Connector imports QuickBooks job cost data into Procore’s Direct Cost and Budget tools and exports owner invoices. It lists commitments among the records that do not sync, and supports QuickBooks Online Plus, Advanced and Intuit Enterprise Suite. Procore Support, as of October 2026
ERP sync of subcontractor invoices
Syncing subcontractor invoices to an ERP is optional, and Procore says to check whether your ERP connector supports them. Procore Support, as of October 2026
The gap
What is still left for the AP team?
Two kinds of invoices reach a GC on Procore, and each leaves different work.
Invoices you receive
Supplier invoices, field receipts and subcontractor bills that arrive by email still need someone to pick the project and vendor, decide whether each one is a Direct Cost or an invoice against a purchase order or subcontract, and give every line a cost code and cost type.
Procore’s email-forwarding beta creates a Direct Costs record from each attachment. Procore Support, as of October 2026 The page we checked doesn’t say it fills in those fields.
Pay apps and bills vendors enter themselves
When subs bill you through Procore as invoice contacts, they type the numbers. Your invoice administrator approves or rejects each Schedule of Values line. Procore Support, as of October 2026
Someone still opens the attached pay application or invoice PDF to confirm that the invoice number, billing period, totals and SOV amounts match what the vendor entered.
Invoices you receive
Where does Denize for Procore fit?
Denize for Procore handles the first kind: the invoices you receive. Forward them to your company’s intake email or upload them, and Denize prepares the Procore record for your review.
Picks the Procore project and vendor.
Decides whether the invoice is a Direct Cost or a billing against a purchase order or subcontract.
Suggests a cost code and cost type for every line.
Allocates commitment billings across the Schedule of Values, and shows retainage when Procore returns it. Denize does not invent a retainage amount.
You review and submit; the record is created in Procore with the original attached.
It does not create purchase orders or commitments, and approvals stay in your Procore workflow.
Denize Invoice Check handles the second kind. It is for GCs whose vendors and subcontractors enter their own pay applications and bills in Procore: pay apps on subcontracts and bills on purchase orders. When one is created or updated, Invoice Check reads the attached invoice once for that version and compares it with what the vendor entered, using deterministic rules.

As a step in your Procore invoice workflow: the billing period, possible split invoices and duplicates across the company
Each invoice is marked Clear, Not clear or Needs review. An accountant accepts it, pushes a correction back to Procore or returns it to the vendor; corrections are limited to current-period billed amounts on commitment invoices. Retainage is not among the published checks. Invoice Check is quoted by monthly volume.
Payments
Where does Procore Pay fit?
Procore Pay handles subcontractor invoice review and payment: customizable approval chains, payment requirements, and lien waivers staged and released at the time of payment. procore.com/pay, as of October 2026The Procore Pay page lists no price. procore.com/pay, as of October 2026
Denize does not make payments. Both Denize products work before payment: one prepares the invoices you receive, the other checks the ones vendors enter. Procore Pay, or however you pay subs today, stays in place.
Be honest
When do you need nothing extra?
You receive few supplier invoices, and entering them by hand doesn’t hold up month-end.
Your subs bill through Procore and your reviewers already compare each pay app with its PDF without falling behind.
You’re in Procore’s Direct Costs email-forwarding beta and it covers the receipts you get.
You pay subs through Procore Pay and its approval chain is all the review you need.
